Aloha Luncheon

26 May 2024

The Aloha Luncheon on May 26 focused on New Beginnings as we installed a new slate of officers for June 2024-May 2026.  Organizers requested everyone wear green to symbolize new growth and new beginnings.   Participants enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet amd shopping the new and used vases beforehand.  Arrangements were provided by Joyce Kaneshiro. Pat Kubo, Shizuya Kikuta, and Karen Kirk.  Members and guests enthusiastically participated in a table centerpiece competition using only green leaves consisting of camellia, moa, kokotan, and whaleback (curculigo).  The table with mostly Ohara members were declared the winners for the 2nd year in a row.  Meanwhile, another table made the most use of objects on the table, incorporating the plastic bag the materials came in, a rolled-up program and even the scissors provided to cut the materials!  The program ended with a video compilation honoring those members who passed on during this past two-year term: Paulette Stone, Darryl Tagami, Jean Marutani, and Betty Tanaka.
