Fall Luncheon
15 Oct
2023
II Chapter 56 held its fall luncheon in the Japanese
style room on the second floor of historic Natsunoya
Tea House. We used the 5 tokonoma
in the adjoining rooms to feature exhibits by three
different ikebana schools. Most of the 10
centerpieces were arranged in chawan (tea
bowl) sized containers as suggested by the
location. Ways and Means sold kimono-fabric
covered earrings and Myrone Murakami brought 2 boxes
of homegrown papaya for everyone. After a
delicious buffet of Hawaiian-Japanese food, Kaniela
Nakashima entertained us with his ukelele, playing a
wide variety of songs and genres to include Elvis,
along with Japanese and Hawaiian tunes. He
even re-tuned his ukelele to sound like a koto and
played Sakura on it!
