1-3 & 8-10 August
Over two weekends Ikebana
International Chapter 56, Honolulu, held its Splendors of
Ikebana exhibit in the Hawaii State Library, gracing the
lobby, reading room, hallways and desks throughout the
library with a variety of arrangements large and
small. Many arrangers took the theme Summer Matsuri
(festival) rather literally, incorporating items typically
worn or used at Japanese festivals into their
arrangements. A Make and Take event on the first
Saturday kept the reading room quite lively as 150 people
got to try their hand at making a small arrangement version
of a cooling Hawaiian shave ice.
