Luncheon
16 September
2018 Members of II Chapter 56 met at a
Japanese restaurant in Waikiki and celebrated the
upcoming harvest moon viewing (Otsukimi) as the
theme for the exhibits. Thanks to the two
members who allowed arrangers to raid their yards for
suzuki (miscanthus grass) to be used with
crysanthemums and other fall materials! A few
homemade mochi and rabbits were also to be
seen in accordance with the Japanese story about the
rabbit pounding mochi (glutinous rice)
dumplings that they envision when they look at the
moon. Everyone was encouraged to wear yukata
and volunteers helped Shisho Kikuta dress some people
in loaner yukata for the occasion. It
was the first time for many members!
