A Golden Celebration of Ikebana:

 50 Years of Friendship through Flowers

             The final event for the Golden Celebration is this spectacular floral exhibit at the Academy Art Center at Linekona.  Ikebana members and their guests gathered to view and celebrate the friendships they have developed with Sensei Shibata, her son and daughter, and her assistants.

             Forty seven arrangers and nine youth arrangers from various schools created arrangements for this special exhibit and Shibata Sensei created a large ikebana sculpture that represented her congratulations for the present anniversary and her best wishes for the next fifty years.

            Special music was provided by Dr. Bernice Hirai on koto and Robert Herr on shakuhachi.

            Below is a sampling of the many beautiful arrangements. It was an exceptional exhibit honoring the Golden Anniversary of Ikebana International Chapter 56.
